Happy New Year to All!

The start of 2018 came rolling in with the Arctic air ! We experienced the effects of the "bombogenesis" that caused our schools to be closed. This epic storm certainly interrupted teachers and students from settling back into their daily school-time routines. I am confident we will have another chance at getting back into the groove that was in place prior to the winter recess. We look to continue our quest in embracing students in order to engage them into relevant educational experiences. The start of 2018 has the same excitement and motivation that was shared by all back in September when we kicked off the school year. Continuing to work together for every student will assist us in meeting our district learning goals.

This month we will host the final strategic planing meeting on January 22nd at the Fernwood Avenue Middle School in the cafeteria at 7 pm. We are looking to create a plan for the board of education to review. Also happening that same week is our very first Parent Camp, which will have a focus on literacy, on January 24th from 6 pm to 8 pm at the high school. Parent Camp is a unique experience, one that we have never offered here in Egg Harbor Township and a chance for parents to learn more about literacy across the content areas, literacy programs we offer, homework help, and tips on writing etc. This night is free to everyone and will consist of collaborative discussion sessions that are aimed to support student learning, teaching, and parenting. I encourage you to join us as a participant and share your knowledge, questions, and insight. For more information about Parent Camps please visit  Additionally, on Saturday, January 27th at 8:30 am, the Board of Education will convene and collaborate with the public to take a first glance at the 2018-19 school district budget. All are welcome.

‚ÄčBecause January is the month where each one of us has the opportunity to start the year fresh and new. I like to look at the year ahead as a 365 page book of blank pages that awaits each day's experience to represent a page that ultimately creates a story. The school district is making serious efforts in "storifying" school happenings on social media sites to create our very own "book" for you to follow and to be connected with our schools. Be sure to find our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages, view our website and download our new district app to be informed of the latest happenings in our schools.

I, along with my colleagues, are looking forward to beginning 2018 with you and to provide both students and parents with exceptional educational experiences each and every day through this year.

Best wishes for a healthy, happy, and peaceful new year!
