It is beginning to look a lot like Spring! May flowers are blooming, the grass is greener and the ocean is bluer. We are in our last semester for teaching and learning, which includes the administration of the following student assessments: PARCC testing district-wide, Advanced Placement Assessments and End of the Year Science Assessments at the High School. I implore students take a relaxed and confident approach to these assessments; I know the end of the school year can be very stressful, but the students are well-prepared. From a parent perspective, I just encourage all to take their time and try their very best.

This month we celebrate our teachers for their dedication and devotion to our students. Recognitions will be taking place throughout the district to show appreciation for the critical role that they play in educating and shaping children, the future leaders of our country. We should take the time to realize that we have all been touched by a teacher or two in our lives, and it is through the education they instilled upon us that we are where we are now. Teachers are kind, patient, knowledgeable, dedicated, and understanding professionals who devote their lives to students. We appreciate their work and service to our school district. Thank you to the parents who volunteer their time to serve breakfast and lunch to our teachers and administration as a sign of recognition.

We will also celebrate Nurse’s Day on May 8th and show appreciation for their service to students, being there in times of sickness and the need for tender, loving care. For all of the band-aids, tissues, ice packs, and comforting words- we thank you for your service.

May is also an exciting time for our high school students as they get to celebrate friendship and fun at the Junior- Senior Prom which will be held on May 12th.  This event is always impressive as our students and staff ‘dress to impress’ and represent our high school with dignity and pride.

I will be spending time this month meeting with community partners, assembling teams to work on our strategic plan, and observing athletic events on the school grounds.  I hope to see you in some capacity and encourage you to take the time to introduce yourself to me and commence in conversation, as I always encourage open communication regarding happenings in our school community.
